Autumn Inspiration: 10 Ways To Get In The Mood For Fall

I love Autumn.  It has a comforting feeling of warmth and cosiness about it.

Autumn is about wrapping up in a snuggly oversized scarf and going for a walk in a forest when the air is all misty and crisp.  It’s about gingerbread men and Yankee candles, cinnamon and chunky knit scarves, and warm blankets and engrossing books.

I love everything about it.  It’s my favourite season.

So to give you some Autumn inspiration and help you get in the mood for Fall, I have put together a post for you of my favourite ways to get ready for Autumn.

 1.  Create An Autumn / Fall Playlist

Earphones

Every season needs a soundtrack.  Your playlist should have an Autumn/Fall based name, and contain songs that make references to things like leaves.

 2.  PAINT YOUR NAILS A RICH AUTUMNAL COLOUR

Make sure your nails are painted in this season’s colours.  Especially your toenails. Deep wine red, mustard, plum, aubergine, and copper are all good choices.

Otherwise how will you know it’s Autumn?!  How will ANYONE know it’s Autumn?!

3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SCENTED CANDLES

Ideally they will be Yankee Candles, but any brand will do, as long as they are orangey or brownish in colour, smell sweet and earthy with a hint of spice, and have names like ‘Fireside Autumn Cinnamon Leaf’ or ‘Gingerbread Scarf Snuggle’.

4. GET COSY IN  SOFT FLUFFY SOCKS OR SLIPPER BOOTIES

Autumn is all about comfort.  And I’m pretty sure there is no better feeling in the world than stepping out of a hot Lush bath, slathering your feet in moisturiser, and then slipping on a pair of super comfy soft fluffy slipper booties.

 5.   SETTLE IN WITH NETFLIX

Netflix and Chill

Autumn calls for paranormal TV shows and movies.  I don’t know why.  It just does.

Recommendations include:

American Horror Story

Okay so it’s pretty scary,  But it’s also really good.

Twilight

I LOVE the huge tall trees in in the forest in Oregon where it was filmed.  And the cold, misty setting is so Autumnal.

Teen Wolf

Obviously the new version, not the horrifically dated monstrosity.  It also has a lot of good music so you can get some ideas for your Autumn playlist.

6.  SNACK ON CINNAMON OR GINGERBREAD FLAVOURED TREATS

You could bake some gingerbread men (or even tiny gingerbread leaves, how cute would that be?!) and fill your house with the gorgeous scent of autumnal baking.

(…Or you could just do what I did and buy something cinnamony and Autumnish from the bakery in Waitrose).

7.  SIP SOME SEASONAL TEA BEFORE BED

May I recommend Twinings Gingerbread Green Tea?  It tastes AMAZING.

It’s like you’re drinking the very essence of a gingerbread man’s little gingerbread soul.  In a good way.

8.   WRAP UP IN A SNUGGLY OVERSIZED SCARF, AND GO FOR AN AUTUMN WALK IN THE WOODS

Put on your brown lace up ankle boots, wear your cutest cosy mittens, fill up your adventuring flask,  and collect the prettiest leaves you can find.

 9.  WARM UP WITH A MUG OF HOT CHOCOLATE

The bigger the better when it comes to mugs for hot chocolate.

Tip:  A good hot chocolate mug should require you to hold it with both hands because it is so big.

 10.  GET LOST IN A BOOK

Stack of blankets

Wrap yourself up in a blanket, cosy up on the sofa (with a kitty if there is one nearby), and get lost in an engrossing book.

So there you go.  I really hope you enjoyed reading this, and that it inspired you to wrap up warm, get out there, and make the most of Autumn.

So, will you be doing any of these ideas?

Have you had your first Autumnal Starbucks drink yet?  And what’s your favourite thing about Autumn?  Let me know in the comments below!

Love and crunchy leaves,
